March 31 Oor boss, Prof. Nihira was retired from the laboratory, and starts to stay at Bangkok, Thailand, as a regional director, Osaka University ASEAN Center.
We would like to thank for his great contribution on our several activity!!!

March 19 Ms. Nguyen Bich Thao and Ms. Dian Anggraini Suroto successfully defended their PhD theses.

A research topic of Thao is "Distribution of avenolide-type hormones among actinomycetes and their roles as communication signals".

A research topic of Dian is "Activation and characterization of cryptic phthoxazolin A biosynthetic gene cluster in Streptomyces avermitilis".

January 9 Ms. Pengklai Nichapha (Au) from Thailand has been joined in our laboratory under the Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship For Short-Term Study In Japan) by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). She stays here untill 13th February.
